RED VS. BLUE: The Differences of Light Therapy

All light is made up of different wavelengths, each representing a colour of the rainbow. In fact, a rainbow is just white light refracting through water droplets in the atmosphere. This phenomenon allows the wavelengths of light to be visible to the human eye– from red to violet, all the way! Specific colours of light can be beneficial to human skin, such as blue and red. Read on for Beauty Rewind’s guide to Red Light Therapy and Blue Light Therapy.

RED LIGHT THERAPY

redlight therapy

At Beauty Rewind, our Red Light Therapy lamps are 100% UV free and they are powered by gentle LED technology. Completely non-invasive, thefrequency of red light penetrates deep into the body’s essential building blocks. Boosting bloodflow and collagen production, Red Light Therapy activates and stimulates ATP production– all of which leaves the skin clearer, tighter and brighter. There are no side effects or downtime and regular treatments promote natural skin healing.
Recommended treatment: Three times a week for three months (each patient varies)

BLUE LIGHT THERAPY

Blue Light Therapy is another gentle LED procedure that penetrates your skin’s pores and eliminates bacteria. While some bacteria are helpful, othersbluelight  promote oil production and other blemish-causing conditions. Blue light activates chemicals inside these bacteria, which ruptures their outer walls– destroying the cell and their ability to form acne and other imperfections. Rosacea, psoriasis, wrinkles and sun damage are all ideal candidates for Blue Light Therapy treatments.
Recommended treatment: Biweekly for three months (each patient varies)

DUAL THERAPY

In some cases, your medical expert may recommend both Blue and Red Light Therapies. This two-tiered approached can be tuned to your specific skin type for maximum results. In this case, you will likely receive two weeks of each, alternating between Blue Light Therapy and Red Light Therapy for as long as needed. This system has been proven to clear up skin and prevent further acne, blemishes or other conditions.
